After seventeen great years, the lab will go through a major transition this summer. I am moving to Duke University to become Dean of the Nicholas School of the Environment, starting July 1. But much of the work we are doing will go on. Phil Taylor will remain at CU and oversee a transitional stage in the lab, while working on the next phase of our long-term work in southwest Costa Rica, as well as on palm oil methane and other projects. The Costa Rica work will continue, led by collaborators Cory Cleveland (U Montana), Greg Asner (Carnegie/Stanford), Stephen Porder (Brown) and INSTAAR’s own Bob Anderson. And while my role in the research program will necessarily scale back due to the new job, I will remain involved and am excited to seek ways to bring Duke’s long and stellar history in tropical science (and other areas of lab interest) into the fold for our collaborative work.
Thank you to everyone who has been a part of the lab over the years. It’s been an incredible honor and privilege to work with all of you.
